spring style list 16Me and clothes are having a moment. I’ve been uninspired by my wardrobe for months and since my Topshop Style experience which I mentioned here, I’m overwhelmed with a love for fashion and a desire to shop until I drop. Unfortunately, I don’t have the means to do this right now and so a wishlist is the best I can do.

There’s a definite theme in the types of things I’m after, it’s basically denim and leather. I’m on the lookout for the perfect blazer too, something smart casual in a lightweight fabric. I also can’t get enough of shoes and handbags, which is so not like me. I used to be the type of girl who wore the same pair of shoes until they got a hole in and then I’d buy another – either loafers or ankle boots depending on the season.

I’m getting brave and lusting after double denim looks and daytime heels, I’m taking a lot of inspiration from blogs but i’m also starting to feel comfortable with my own choices. Does that make me an adult?

I’ve just written all of that, uploaded the picture and realised that the shoes are still ankle boots and loafers; some things never change…

I’m making a conscious effort to step away from the spray on skinnys, and let my legs breathe a little. There’s nothing worse than having to sit for half an hour after every meal with your trousers undone and so I’m opting for something a little more spacious and a little more stylish. I’m into MOM jeans, Boyfriend jeans and Girlfriend jeans. Pictured are the Topshop MOM jeans in collaboration with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer which makes them an even more worthy investment, also the Topshop Lucas jeans, which I tried on and LOVED.

Sticking with denim, denim shirts with denim jeans is a look which I love, I really like this two toned one from Zara which would go with a few different jean shades and the one from Topshop with the frilly collar, though this might be a bit to warm for the summer months.

There’s a definite lack of jackets in my wardrobe and after selling my old faux leather piece I’m looking to invest in something which will stand the test of time. I love the texture of the Topshop Boutique Ultimate Biker Jacket, now I just need to find the $$$.

Shoes wise I’m after some fresh new loafers now that mine are literally unwearable and smell horrific (tmi?), and think that a black and nude pair are compulsory. I’m also lusting after the Topshop Music bone heeled ankle boots, which I think would look so chic with girlfriend or boyfriend jeans.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I do want a pair of Stan Smiths. Am I a bad person? I love how these look with a smarter outfit and I’ve been wearing my Nike Trainers to death in this way. Plus I have tiny feet so can pay child’s price. Justified.

Finally, until I can get a designer bag (literally scrolling Selfridges every day), I’m opting for this fancy little number from Zara. Chanel-esque with a moc-croc style and chain handle? Oh go on then!

Mixing things up a bit today with a fancy video, swish isn’t it?! Recently I’ve been a beauty commuter, applying a full face of makeup on the train and living out of a makeup bag as opposed to getting ready at my dressing table. I’ve become a little bit of a makeup bag maestro, a packing princess if you will and thought I’d show you what’s in my current rotation.

I’m currently finding my MAC Mineralise Moisture Foundation a fave, easy to pat on with a damp beauty blender and a base that doesn’t cling to my dry patches, meaning I don’t have to worry about what it looks like throughout the day. Ideal. I top it up with Maybelline Better Skin Concealer and set it all in place with my beloved Hourglass Ambient Light powder.

Brows are covered by the usual culprit and for eyes I have options in the form of a CT quad or a scribble of her eyes to mesmerise depending on how early it is and how bothered I can be. Blush comes in the form of NARS Silent nude which is basically surgically attached to me and for lips I opt for either peach or pink shades to match.

While I am happy with my current product picks, as usual I’m coveting a number of pretties to stock up my stash and farfetch.com has my luxury beauty needs met.

farfetch #ad

I’m desperate to get my mitts on some goodies from Kevyn Aucoin and what better place to start that with some cult classics. My current beauty bag is missing the perfect contour/highlight duo and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Sculpting Powder and Celestial Powder. I’m also on the hunt for something heavy duty and the Sensual Skin Enhancer is a multi use product leaving base needs covered.

Another brand I’m yet to try is BECCA and as a self acclaimed highlighter queen I can barely believe that sentence comes out of my mouth. I just have to get my hands on the Shimmering Skin Perfectors in every type they do. Excessive? Me? Never…

After letting the hype die down a little, I’ve decided that the Artis Oval 6 Brush isn’t optional, I have to give it a go. I can imagine it blending everything to perfection, once I get over it looking like a toothbrush that is…

Finally while it’s all well and good having makeup products coming out of your ears, it’s important to take it off at the end of the day and cult classic Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel is well in my radar, and while i’m talking luxury I have to give the By Terry Baume de Rose a go, it’s just like the rules of feminism! (name that film)

beauty feb 16

You may have noticed I’ve taken a little break from blogging, but I’m back to loving beauty and ready to spend and share with you. To get the ball rolling I’ve whittled down my expansive high end beauty wishlist to just seven products, if only I could have them all…

It’s no recent news that we’ve welcomed BECCA’s collaboration with Jaclyn Hill on UK shores and I’m more than desperate to get my hands on at least 12 of them. Reviews are singing from a positive hymn sheet and I really want to sing along too. It’s hands down my next beauty purchase, my Space NK points are ready…

Things that haven’t yet come over the Atlantic are Kat Von D cosmetics, but that doesn’t stop me lusting over the Shade & Light Contour Kit and the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, mainly in Bow & Arrow. I’ll be placing a Sephora order when it’s slightly less of a blow on the old bank balance, claiming it as research, obviously.

I recently took a trip to Bobbi Brown for the first time in my life and fell in love with the shade, formula and finish of their Moisture Rich Foundation in Warm Ivory. This ticked all of my boxes when it comes to base requirements and we all know I’ve been struggling to find something satisfactory. I also had a bit of their Corrector in Light Bisque applied to my un-slightly under eyes and to be quite honest the results were outstanding. Bright eyed bushy tailed.

When I met Lily and Anna at Stylist Live last year Lily told me that her lipstick was the Laura Mercier Cream Lipstick in Spiced Rose and I’ve been eyeing it up ever since. I really should just chuck it in my basket and pay the price, perfectly pink but not sickly sweet, it’s divine.

Last on my list is the Smith and Cult Nail Lacquer in Doe My Dear, a muted grey lilac shade perfect for the upcoming spring months. You may remember my obsession with Essie Maximillian Strasse Her last year, I predict this will have similar impact.

What are you wishing for? Is there anything on this list I should buy immediately? Let me know…

In case you haven’t got the point yet, I really am quite fond of Autumn. Burgundy, camel and copper are my favourite colours but unfortunately when I attempt to rock a plummy lip in the spring months people look at me like maybe I am mad. For beauty this season I’m coveting sparkly eyes and deep lip shades, and I’ve scoured the web for all of the things which would make my wish come true… a girl can dream.

My internet scouring consisted predominantly of me drooling all over the Charlotte Tilbury website with a quick divert to MAC and NARS. CT nails it with autumnal shades and her slap dash approach to eyeshadow application gets me excited. For the coming months i’m lusting after her Luxury Eyeshadow Quad in Dolce Vita, with a scribbling of the Colour Chameleon Shadow Stick for Green Eyes in Bronzed Garnet and a swish of the Eyes to Mesmerize Cream Shadow in Bette. For supermodel like sculpting i’m desperate for the Film Star Bronze and Glow in light/medium and to perk up my pout the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria which I believe is named after a certain Ms Beckham.

My sparkly eyes obsession stretches across to MAC Pigment in Copper Sparkle and for lips with more depth I want the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu. aw15 styleI’m not quite as adventurous when it comes to style and can usually be found in a pair of black skinny jeans and a cosy knit, but that absolutely does not stop me from wanting/needing more cosy knits in different shapes and shades. Zara do autumn brilliantly and an embarrassing amount of window shopping has left me wanting their Hand Made Coat, Colour Block Jumper and Cropped Turtleneck Sweater. H&M has become my new favourite shop and I’ve been eyeing up another turtleneck knit in the form of this lightweight red one, I’ve also spotted this dotty scarf which I think looks like it’s vintage and I loooove that. Finally with every season comes me wanting a slogan t-shirt from Whistles and this one is no different. I actually wanted the one which said ‘Beaute’ but it sold out and I was too slow and too poor (Student Life) and so I’ve now fallen in love with this one printed with a Parisian street name, how chic?! I also really really want this Burgundy Lizard Card Holder which is only £25 and next time I have £25 spare will definitely be coming home with me.

What do you want this Autumn? Are any of my picks on your shopping list?

Check out my swish image. It’s basically irrelevant to the post but it’s pretty and we all know that always comes before practical, right?

Today’s post is the second in my Budget Beauty bunch and comes in the form of a pretty expansive drugstore/high street beauty wishlist. I love making wishlists because it feels like shopping but I haven’t actually spent anything, it’s only about a week later when I’ve collectively bought all of the items when they become a problem…

I’ll work in brand order, because I like that and we’ll start with Bourjois. Now, Bourjois is a brand which I love. My early memories of Bourjois (is that a thing?) are the little round pot blushes which in my opinion are a tad too shimmery for a flush of colour but do look exceptionally pretty sat on your dressing table. I love their base options, I’ve tried a few including the Healthy Mix Serum and that’s only made it onto the list because I want another. In regards to new releases, Bourjois have hit the nail on the head with the latest launch, the Aqua Blush has snook its way to the top of my shopping list pretty quickly and I’m currently coveting Inge-nude. I’m super keen to try some of their lip product, with my only past experience being a tiny lip gloss phone charm I had on an old flip phone (omg). On my list is the Rouge Edition Velvet in Red Pepper and Happy Nude Year.

Next up I’ve recently been wandering over to the L’Oreal stand a little too much and getting all heart eyed over their La Palette Nude, in both shades, of course. These are sleek in packaging and stunning in product, I can’t wait to get my hands on them. I’m also keen to try the new lipgloss launches and the entire Lumi Magique line. Glowy Skin be mine.

Maybelline seem to be extending their line recently, with Mollie King fronting the UK Campaign and the launch of the blogger-must-have Master Sculpt kit. I’m obviously after that, along with their Baby Skin Anti Fatigue primer and the expected Roller Lash dupe Lash Sensational.

Finally Max Factor‘s Creme Puff Blushes have taken the industry by storm with everyone and their mother loving them. An expected dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes, I’ve got my eye on the shade Nude Mauve.

What are you currently coveting? Have you tried any of these products?

With summer approaching, actual hot weather and my new rose gold watch (more on that tomorrow) I’m getting giddy over summer style and most importantly accessories. In the winter I tend to keep my look a bit more stripped back (oo-er) and opt for basic shapes and very little jewellery. I’m not one for big jewellery and so when I saw the new range from Thomas Sabo, my inner dainty jewellery lover was impressed. The collection contains a lot of rose gold toned metal and not much else; me likey.
The items pictured above are my covets of the collection, and I can’t wait to get spending on the site. Luckily for us the lovely people at
Silver Tree* are giving Northern Nancy readers an exclusive 20% off code for use accross the website, meaning you can take your pick of summer pieces from brands including Michael Kors, ChloBo, Pandora and more! If that’s not enough to fill your basket I don’t know what is…

So you can be like me and go for the rose gold beauties of Thomas Sabo’s latest launch, treat yourself to a Pandora charm or go big and splash out on a new watch. To redeem the discount simply enter BLG_CINAEDIO8AU8 at the checkout. *spends all money and ends up bankrupt*

topshop ss15

Here’s the thing; I constantly browse online shops adding things to an imaginary shopping basket (I know I’m not alone on that one, who’s with me?) and to make it feel like anything but a form of lazy procrastination I put together these fancy little posts once in a while.

Recently i’ve been lusting after Topshop’s bits and so here’s a lengthy list of what i’ll be daydreaming about (hopefully wearing) this season.

This month marks the fifth anniversary of Topshop Makeup – the clothing brands ever successful delve into the beauty world. To mark the occasion, they’ve released a number of their best selling products in limited edition rose gold packaging and I, just like everyone else, absolutely love it. I’ve been desperate to get my hands on the glow pot for a while now and this prettly packaged version may have tipped me over the edge and make me bite the bullet. I do own most of Topshop’s lipstick line but i’m yet to try out a red so their lipstick in Rio Rio holds the top spot on my shopping list and is something i’m sure to pick up next time i’m in store.

Due to my completely mainly monochrome wardrobe, I thought i’d add in a few pops of summer with the green leaf print tunic which I really really need and the split back top in a pale lilac shade (very whistles). A few other tops caught my eye in the form of the raw edge top which has a lovely zip down the back, the herringbone top, a slogan tee and the white knitted vest which I can image would look lovely with ripped black MOM shorts (missed those of the list along with black dungarees because I have the memory of a goldfish/ forgot to browse the denim section).

Top half covered, on the bottom half i’m pretty uniform in that I always wear a trusty pair of black skinny jeans. To mix things up a little, I’m interested in tailored trousers and liked the look of the cigarette style as well as the notch back tapered pair which at £22 each are a bargain.

For jackets, because lets face it i’d freeze in the north if I only wore a t-shirt, I’d love to grow about five inches and pull off the duster jacket in this beautiful lilac/grey shade. I’ve also wanted a more tailored coat for a while so the slim pocket coat in navy can sit pretty on my list for when it starts to get colder.

Finally, to finish off my imaginary outfits, the lace up ballet shoes and the palm print scarf. These shoes are everywhere at the moment and I want/need a pair in my posession, and palm print just gets me every time…

cos wishlistThere’s something refreshing about COS. I’m not sure if its the way the stores are laid out, the quality of the pieces or the simplistic style but something is causing COS and I to have a moment.

Now the majority of the garments are more expensive than what i’d usually shell out for a top or a pair of socks but after somewhat of an epiphany I have decided that quality is so much better than quantity and that i’ll use more money on staple, timeless investment pieces rather than parting with £30-£40 on a trend frock.

Contrary to all of that, upon a recent lustful wander I picked up the red stripe tunic for only £19 – not even sale price – and I am made up with it. It looks lovely with everything I own and is a fantastic and welcome addition to my other 10 stripe tops. To go with it, I picked up the necklace for only £7 (again, full price). I love COS jewellery because it’s so dainty and classic and looks a lot more expensive than it is. I have a ring and a bracelet from previous shopping trips, both of which are in the same brushed copper effect metal with the grey/silver thread.

My style is evolving at the moment. I always struggle with summer dressing because 1. Its never really that sunny here and 2. I feel most comfortable in black skinny jeans and a long sleeved tee. This summer, however, I’m making an effort to let my style evolve and welcoming crisp cottons, white and potentially the odd pop of colour (no the wishlist isn’t all black, your eyes are in fact deceiving you). I love the straight, simple cuts of COS clothing and the fact that they are timeless and effortless. I’m dreaming of a perfectly streamlined minimalist wardrobe for the coming months. I might even get round to having a clear out.

high end beauty wishlist

Today i’m here with a beauty wish list, and not just any, its a purse pushing, credit card crunching high end beauty wishlist, and a big one at that. Don’t blame me next time your card is declined for a tin of beans.

As a huge fan of beauty (really? you never said) I’m constantly perusing other blogs and watching videos which are always successful in making me put pen to paper on my never ending shopping list. While i’m currently a student, this is a bit unrealistic in my price point and it will be a long time and a lot of mouldy bread before I’ve saved enough to pick up all of these luxury beauties. But a girl can dream.

Yesterday I accidentally tripped into the Selfridges beauty department in Manchester and found myself having a lovely conversation with one of the consultants at Charlotte Tilbury who convinced me I needed everything on the counter. “You write a blog? Oh whats a blog without some Charlotte Tilbury?” were her words, and I agreed. I did walk away empty handed *applauds self* but since seeing the products in real life I cannot stop thinking about how much I NEED that magic cream, the answer to all of my dehydration woes, the wonderglow because i’m dull as dishwater and the filmstar bronze and glow because JUST LOOK AT IT. Following suit I tripped again (cheap shoes) and ended up at the Tom Ford counter and decided that an eyeshadow quad is special enough to be on my bucket list, and much prettier than jumping out of a plane.

Next comes my daily browse of the Space NK website, i’m glad we don’t have a branch here in Sheffield because i’d definitely be starving, if not homeless. I’m getting all heart eyed emoji over the By Terry ombre blackstars, despite having picked up every possible dupe i’ve still got a place in my heart for the real deal and bronze moon really does float my boat. After being cheeky and using up several samples of NARS sheer glow foundation, I know it’s time to part with some cash and bag a bottle. I love the formula, the shade match and of course the glow. If you haven’t tried it you are mad. To set my glowing base I obviously need one of the Hourglass ambient lighting powders. A soft focus glow? Yes.

From Cult Beauty i’m lusting after the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit and brow wiz. The contour kit just because and the brow wiz because i’m just so unhappy with my eyebrows at the moment I have considered removing them but that’s quite a statement so i’ll buy this instead.

Finally, from MAC i’m looking into fix plus after my friend sprayed it onto my face in the St Pancras Station store and it made me glow all day whilst keeping my makeup in place. I’m also desperate for Stripdown lip liner for all of my nude lip liner needs. I can’t wait for the Kylie Jenner lip phase to be over so that all of the pretties come back into stock.

What are you wishing for?

I know, I know, I do a whole lotta wishin’. The trouble is, I am often sat at my desk to do work and I accidentally end up scouring the pages of my favourite stores for hours and hours and getting no work done. However, I have come up with a master plan and that is that if I open up Photoshop and put together a post for this blog, it’s not a complete waste of my time and there is some productivity in my Sunday. Gold stars all round.

It seems recently I’ve been lusting after leather, and not the false, synthetic type – the good stuff. Around the summer of last year I decided that staple items are definitely worth parting with pennies for because they will last you a life time. Buy cheap, buy twice. I do think that leather goods are timeless and so for this list I’ve assembled my four favourite pieces, all of which are available now.

The first pick, and the most expensive, is this Leather Jacket from & Other Stories. I do have a faux leather jacket which I have worn to the death however it’s now nearly three years old and just looks a little thin, worn and lack lustre. I am already excited for the day when I’ve saved up enough money to buy this jacket, I just know it’s a worthy investment.

Again from & Other Stories (love) are these leather brogues. Another staple item for both smart and casual attire and a reliable shoe for comfort. I love the simplicity of these shoes, and everything on this list, they are again completely timeless and another worthy investment that I may start collecting my coppers for.

Next up, again & Other Stories is this chic leather card holder. I have been in the market for a card holder for a good while because I just have too many points cards, and sometimes wish I had the convenience of just pulling out an understated pouch holding my most important plastics. Handy for clutch bags too.

Finally from Topshop is this dual pouch cross-body bag, a budget buy which is still real leather and is perfect for shopping and the upcoming (?) festival season. I am in need of an everyday back which is of smaller size than my regular tote styles because frankly, you don’t always need to carry three years worth of out of date diaries and the kitchen sink with you.

Do you love leather? What are you lusting after?
