march faves

Oh hey y’all! Long time no speak. I’m beginning to notice a pattern emerging in my posts, one which consists of constant apology for lack of content but to put it bluntly, I’m busy.

March was an exciting month for me, I finished and handed in my dissertation and had a quality night out with the girlies to celebrate, I gave up chocolate in aid of British Heart Foundation, I popped across to Paris, I interned with a great PR company which meant I lacked time to metaphorically put pen to paper and ponder my favourite subject of all… on with the show!

I’m still on a mission to find the perfect base and this month I returned to an old favourite Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, it’s a light coverage base with a nourishing formula and I like it best applied with a buffing brush over my new favourite Happy Light Luminous Primer. I’ve been testing out their new City Radiance base launch too, i’ll pop a post up asap.

I’ve had the common cold ft a very sore grumbly throat and chapped everything to match. Rose & Co’s Rose Petal Salve is a winner for hydrating and protecting flaky bits, like Vaseline but one million times better. I love it.

Once my lips had endured a little TLC I’ve been plastering on my CT Mini Lipstick Charm in Penelope Pink which I definitely need to purchase a full size of. It’s the perfect pink peach nude shade suitable for day and evening looks.

Finally I’ve fallen out of love with my lashes having had issues with some of my favourite mascaras starting to smudge. I picked up the Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara, a cult classic and an old favourite of mine which leaves me feeling nostalgic of the time’s I’d sweep this on after PE at school. It’s a tiny brush and the product does require work but a few coats and you’re left with long, thick, fluttery lashes that not even a falsie could improve.

What were your favourites things in the month of March?

august favourites

I don’t know how I’ve managed to not go on and on and on and on and on about this, but August saw me taking a trip to the city of loooove. As well as holding that pretty great title, Paris also offered me great pharmacies and a number of Sephora’s. I went hard on my bank balance and picked up everything I could ever want, but because this is absolutely not a haul post, I’ve narrowed it down the the absolute best of the bunch. Allow me to introduce to you my August Favourites…

From the Skincare Stash comes a moisturiser which is the bees knees, or the creme de la creme, if you will. When someone says Bioderma, you immediately think of their Micellar Water, however Bioderma as a brand expands wayyyy past water and on Lisa Eldridge’s recommendation, I picked up their Hydrabio Riche. If Lisa loves it, so will everybody else and this lotion applies lightly but works wonders on tight feeling dehydrated skin. I’ve shunned the rest of my cream collection.

Let’s just take a moment for Marc Jacobs. If you don’t like his designs, you will love his lippies and if you do like his designs, you’ll love his lippies too! The price of this badboy took my breath away slightly but it’s so damn pretty I couldn’t resist. I’ve got the New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel in Understudy and it glides on like a dream, offers up a perky pink shade and looks oh so Parisian chic when you pull out the bullet from your bag. That magnetic closure though.

I finally gave in after buying multiple expected dupes and bought the real By Terry Ombre Blackstar. I opted for Bronze Moon (a light bronze/brown with silvery wet look shimmer) as an easy go to shade and I already want every other shade in the collection. Every single day since purchase I’ve scribbled this creamy dream onto my lids, softened the edges and been done with my eyes. Sometimes dupes just don’t cut it. There’s more of that coming later this week čśë

Lord have mercy my undereye bags have been beaten! My weapon of choice? Urban Decay Naked Concealer. Forget the Naked palettes, this product is an absolute show stopper, in fact it stops everything. Offering unreal amounts of coverage with a feathery lightweight feel, I’ve never looked so awake.

Finally for this months picks, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara has revolutionised mascara for me. It gives me long, thick, fluttery lashes which I can usually only achieve using faux hair and glue. I said it in my review post, but you really do need this mascara.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset Sound the monthly favourites klaxon, I’m here with the best beauty products from July.

July was a no money month, I didn’t buy more than a handful of new beauty bits due to working full time and because of this I have very few products to talk about which I haven’t mentioned before. I’ve been pretty uniform in my makeup application, with the NARS Tinted Moisturiser, Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara and a pinky nude lip so this months selection isn’t really one to write home about, but i’ll proceed anyway…

As you know this month saw the purchase of my first ever Charlotte Tilbury makeup item, in the form of the Matte Revolution lipstick in Miss Kensington; a limited edition shade from the Norman Parkinson Collection. This hasn’t come off my lips since I first got my hands on it, it’s creamy, it’s long lasting, it’s a perfect pink shade and the square tip makes application a breeze.

The Muji Toning Lotion has been somewhat revolutionary for my skin this month. Since running out of my Pixi Glow Tonic a number of months ago (read: too long ago) my skin had been suffering and in need of a good toner. This one has fit the bill perfectly. I’m going to do a post on why I love toner shortly.

Finally for beauty bits, I have been loving the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray since going for the chop. This has given my shoulder length hair much needed volume and texture, meaning I’ve spent more days fab than drab.

A non-beauty favourite but a favourite none the less is Yes Please by Amy Pohler. This book is hilarious as well as being insightful. I’d definitely suggest you pick it up if you’re looking for a holiday read.

So I might be 10 days too late with this one, but it’s better late than never ey?! Today I’m sharing with you the best bits from June’s beauty bouquet. It’s short and sweet this time around with the start of the month seeing more no makeup days than usual and a particularly boring spending ban, meaning that while I havent got too much to write home about, the products that made the cut are ones which not even my pyjama wearing, crap TV watching, carb eating self could avoid. Here’s the run down…

The first product on my cosmetics conveyor belt is a complete lie, I didn’t even buy it in June and realistically it should have been saved for this months collection. That said, in the week or so which & Other Stories Fig Fiction Body Mist has been mine I’ve been spritzing it like nobody’s business. A fresh scent which when thrown in your handbag makes a life saver of a product. It’s subtle and light but at the same time does linger. I should have bought the bigger one.

With a recent trip to London and a lot of time on trains and tubes I was washing my hands significantly more which led to them getting dry. For dry hands SOS I turned to The Body Shop’s Wild Rose hand cream. A feminine scent, great packaging and does a good job at nourishing hands quickly and effectively. No slippy mitts here.

To save my skin I have absolutely adored the Vitamin C Serum* from InstaNatural. This promises to hydrate, boost youth and give skin a radiant glow and my face can’t get enough of the stuff. This rids dehydrated skin of that awful tight feeling and makes a great base for any following layers of product. It’s orange coloured and has a fresh orange scent making it a great choice for mornings due to it’s awakening properties.

My only makeup pick this month comes in the form of MAC’s Cream Colour Base in Pearl. This has been giving me that much needed glow following a few early mornings and doesn’t look sweaty or greasy even in the current heatwave.

When I have worn makeup, I’ve been taking off any eye makeup with the Amphora Aromatics Soothing Aloe Eye Gel*. This product takes makeup off my tired, sore eyes leaving no residue and ridding the need to scrub the sensitive eye area. I’ve already popped up a review.

Finally my choice of mani this month is from Essie and is the shade Bikini So Teeny. Like the name, LOVE the colour. This is a blue toned lilac (lilac toned blue?) with bits of glitter and it really floats my boat. I’m not sure it’s MSH teritorry just yet but it’s definitely well on it’s way.

*This product was sent to me for free in exchange for my honest, unbiased feedback.

I know we’re nine days into June (halfway through the year oh my) but I wanted to ensure that if I did this Monthly Favourites thing I did it every month, so i’m coming at you today with my favourites from the month of May!

A little non-beauty offering in this months collection is my new watch, which I hinted at in yesterdays jewellery post. It’s from Daniel Wellington and is the Classic Sheffield Lady watch featuring a black leather strap and rose gold bezel(?) with a very simple white face. I love this watch, I haven’t taken it off since getting it and it’s an absolute dream at finishing off outfits.

My base has taken a transformation and I’ve been turning to the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser and the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light. The tinted moisturiser glides on easily for a natural skin finish without any imperfections and the powder sets it all in place, removing shine whilst still letting me glow. More on that soon.

The month saw a few additions in the lipstick department and I’ve been opting for Chanel Rouge Coco in Adrienne for daytime and Mac lipstick in Mehr come sundown. I’m really pleased with both of them and they fit nicely into my lipstick wardrobe.

I introduced my new scent to you around a week ago and i’m not lying when I say i’m besotted, fresh enough for everyday wear and womanly enough for evening. I don’t even know where my other perfumes are…

I finally got my hands on the MAC 217, popping my MAC brush cherry and making all of my eye makeup that little bit better. I might even like it better than my Sigma one.

So that’s it for another month, it’ll be 2020 before we know it. What did you love in the month of may? Have you tried any of my picks?

Today marks the end of April and I couldn’t be happier. I LOVE MAY. The fifth month marks my birthday and I’m excited to be back home from Sheffield for the summer spending time with friends and family and having a bit of time without any stress. I’m a big birthday lover even when it’s not my own so I’m planning on making it a long celebration filled with cakes and champagne.

Anyway, we’re not here to talk about my party plans were here for this months roundup of the best in beauty, and April brought a few too many makeup free days and a lot of days sat at my desk in dirty pjs with toothpaste on my face. Gorgeous. The month didn’t bring me many new things and everything that is here you’ve probably already guessed, but never one to let you down, here’s my April favourites.

First up is the product that’s been featured in every single post since I got it; Essie Maximillian Strasse Her. The polish that I’ve still not put my finger on the colour of, but one that I haven’t managed to stop myself from painting on. It’s love

Secondly comes Soap and Glory’s Archery pencil which I’ve already penned a review on. This mechanical mystery offers fuller natural looking brows with a few light strokes. Blocky brows be gone.

Next up, the Rimmel exaggerate lip liner in east end snob has taken over from my trusty nudes offering something a little pinker and seasonally appropriate. I’ve popped up a post using this too so be sure to have a look at that.

New to my skincare selection, Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate made its way home with me after a recent trip to Space NK and I love it. It’s something I’ve listed after for a while. Don’t be fooled by the all skin types label, this works wonders for very dry and dehydrated skin like mine so don’t worry it won’t be rich enough. I can see it working for dehydrated oily ladies too though. Interesting

This month I’ve been planning next years dissertation (scary!) and I’ve had Lena Dunham help me along the way. I’ve been reading Not That Kind of Girl for academic reasons and it made me laugh so much that studying got fun. Seriously.

┬áSo today is the 1st April and to my knowledge I haven’t been tricked. Success! A new month always means a round up of the old months favourites, so here’s the best bits from my beauty bag in the month of March.

I had my hair cut at the weekend so I’m still trialing products for my new do (post coming soon) however the V05 Cherish My Colour full bodied heat defence spray makes blow drying a breeze; adding volume, caring for my colour and protecting my hair from heat damage. And it smells divine.┬áWith this I’ve been enjoying using my Denman smoothing hairbrush. Combining natural and plastic bristles this brush glides through knots and rids hair of frizz. C’est fantastique.

I’ve been loving the two essence products which I picked up in February. The liner has become an everyday staple for the outer part of my eye, giving the appearance of fuller lashes and adding a subtle definition to the eye. The brow setting gel has improved in my opinion and I’ve been using it everyday that I’ve worn makeup. I probably will try others but for now this one is a firm favourite.

Yesterday I popped up a post on the Maybelline Cat Eyes mascara, an expected dupe for Benefit Roller Lash. I have been loving this this month for a feline cat eye effect on my oddly shaped eyes. This mascara adds great length and curl and I love it.

The Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob has been a stand out product in this months makeup routine. I like to wear it with a bit of lip balm for fuller looking natural lips.

Finally, the Caudalie Beauty Elixir has become my addiction. I may be three years late to the party but I definitely understand the hype. I spritz this on at the toner stage in my skincare routine both morning and evening for a boost of hydration and fresh feeling.

So that’s a wrap for another month. What products have you loved?

Pinch punch last of the month (Erm?). Today is the last day of February, meaning were almost three months into the year.. Crazy. This month has been busy for me, with this little slice growing and university getting pretty full on, I feel like I’ve barely blinked. But while I’ve been typing thousands of words and trying to maintain an ordinary life and some sort of balanced diet I have of course been wearing makeup and trying out new products, these are my pick of the pack.

1. Burberry sheer eyeshadow in Pale Barley – I reviewed this back in January and still am completely bessoted with it. Great for everyday, for a simple shade to work with liquid liner and for blending with darker shades for an evening smokey eye.

2. MAC Eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown – I’ve started using this again to fill in my eyebrows. It took me a while to make the swap from my trusty omega, but now that my hair is slightly darker I feel I can again pull off this once adored shade. Brow game strong.

3. MAC Blush in Harmony – I love this for a natural look for everyday. I feel as though this cool taupe shade suits me way more than the typical corals and pinks. It’s also fab for contouring.

4. Maybelline gel liner in Intense Black – this has made my life so much easier, gone are the days of wonky lines and smudged felt tips and here are the times of liner that I’m not ashamed of leaving the house in. I’m never one to speak too soon but this might hold holy grail status.

5. L’Oreal The Concealer in No.2 Vanilla – this is again something I’ve already spoken about. This concealer is full coverage while not being cakey or heavy like it’s competitors. I love this for both under eyes and on any blemishes or redness. It’s been compared to the NARS creamy radiant concealer, definitely one to try.

6. NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Iberico – I’ve really taken a shine to this bright, bold lip option this month. It’s a straight up orange, verging on orange toned red but more like red toned orange. The impact of the shade makes lips appear bigger and fuller. Kylie who?

7. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara – I’m coming to the end of my sample size now after pretty much everyday use since picking it up with this months Elle magazine. As I mentioned in my review, this offers length, curl and hold and is great for both day and night.

8. Mitchum Advance Deodorant Stick – glamorous I know… This is brilliant though. It offers a fresh scent and all day sweat and odour control. I like the stick form aswell because it doesn’t apply wet or sticky like roll ons.

So that’s it for another month. What products do you like?
