spring style list 16Me and clothes are having a moment. I’ve been uninspired by my wardrobe for months and since my Topshop Style experience which I mentioned here, I’m overwhelmed with a love for fashion and a desire to shop until I drop. Unfortunately, I don’t have the means to do this right now and so a wishlist is the best I can do.

There’s a definite theme in the types of things I’m after, it’s basically denim and leather. I’m on the lookout for the perfect blazer too, something smart casual in a lightweight fabric. I also can’t get enough of shoes and handbags, which is so not like me. I used to be the type of girl who wore the same pair of shoes until they got a hole in and then I’d buy another – either loafers or ankle boots depending on the season.

I’m getting brave and lusting after double denim looks and daytime heels, I’m taking a lot of inspiration from blogs but i’m also starting to feel comfortable with my own choices. Does that make me an adult?

I’ve just written all of that, uploaded the picture and realised that the shoes are still ankle boots and loafers; some things never change…

I’m making a conscious effort to step away from the spray on skinnys, and let my legs breathe a little. There’s nothing worse than having to sit for half an hour after every meal with your trousers undone and so I’m opting for something a little more spacious and a little more stylish. I’m into MOM jeans, Boyfriend jeans and Girlfriend jeans. Pictured are the Topshop MOM jeans in collaboration with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer which makes them an even more worthy investment, also the Topshop Lucas jeans, which I tried on and LOVED.

Sticking with denim, denim shirts with denim jeans is a look which I love, I really like this two toned one from Zara which would go with a few different jean shades and the one from Topshop with the frilly collar, though this might be a bit to warm for the summer months.

There’s a definite lack of jackets in my wardrobe and after selling my old faux leather piece I’m looking to invest in something which will stand the test of time. I love the texture of the Topshop Boutique Ultimate Biker Jacket, now I just need to find the $$$.

Shoes wise I’m after some fresh new loafers now that mine are literally unwearable and smell horrific (tmi?), and think that a black and nude pair are compulsory. I’m also lusting after the Topshop Music bone heeled ankle boots, which I think would look so chic with girlfriend or boyfriend jeans.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I do want a pair of Stan Smiths. Am I a bad person? I love how these look with a smarter outfit and I’ve been wearing my Nike Trainers to death in this way. Plus I have tiny feet so can pay child’s price. Justified.

Finally, until I can get a designer bag (literally scrolling Selfridges every day), I’m opting for this fancy little number from Zara. Chanel-esque with a moc-croc style and chain handle? Oh go on then!

Jumpsuit (trouser part shown) – Primark | Top – Primark | Jacket – Topshop | Shoes – Topshop

If you’d have said three months ago that I’d be wearing a ribbed culotte jumpsuit, I’d have bet you £50 that I wouldn’t. Thank god that’s a bet I never put on because here I am, jumpsuit in wardrobe and I’ve loved styling it up for both daytime and evening wear.

The jumpsuit itself is low cut and so for daytime I prefer to cover up with a cropped jumper or top. I can imagine it would look great with something with fringing on the bottom for a festival inspired look, equally an interesting jacket over the jumpsuit alone is a great look.

For this look I opted for a top, shacket (shirt-jacket hybrid) and some heeled ankle boots, which I thought was a great outfit for this bipolar weather we’re currently enjoying. I’m also really looking forward to dressing it up for the evening next week at my step-sisters hen party, I think some two strap heels would make it look a lot more expensive than the mere £15 I bought it for.

Have you got a jumpsuit?

Top: Primark | Trousers: Topshop | Shoes: Topshop | Jacket: Topshop

A few weeks ago I nipped into Topshop’s personal shopping space in their Brighton store. I’d been feeling uninspired by my wardrobe and needed a second opinion and some inspiration for the transition between seasons. As much as I love black skinny jeans and a tee I was getting bored of putting on the same thing everyday and was looking at my wardrobe in disdain as opposed to being excited to get dressed for the day.

The girls at Topshop changed that. Three hours in the personal shopping space and I’m a changed woman. They offer tea and cupcakes while they ask a few questions about your style, what you’re looking to get from the experience and your sizes.

The girls came back with arm-fulls of clothes which they set out into outfits in a large changing room with a big mirror and two clothing rails. They pick everything from the base layers, to jackets, shoes, handbags and accessories. I do wish that I could have one of them live with me, getting dressed was so easy with their stylish eyes watching over.

I left having spent a little too much money, though with the experience theres no requirement to buy anything. I justified my spend thinking that I’d have enough for a couple of months, but the truth is I can’t wait to go back!

Since my shopping experience I’ve fallen in love with fashion again, and while I might still wear skinny jeans and tee some days, I wear them with a bangin jacket or some fabulous shoes.

christmas pjs

Everybody knows that Christmas time is the time of year where it’s socially acceptable to spend all day in your pyjamas. Not only that, with nightwear you can be as inventive as you like, so if you stick to monochrome for the great outdoors, why not go bold with your sleep attire?

I love receiving Pj’s for Christmas as it’s not something I really feel I can justify buying for myself, and while i’m writing this i’m wearing last years offering of which the top has a hole in the armpit.

If you too love receiving Pj’s, are looking to buy some for someone or just love to lounge, I’ve picked out the best of the bunch for the most wonderful time of the year.

Next have some great Pyjamas, and they’re pretty great quality too. I was in there with my mum the other day and we both couldn’t stop stroking the Navy Star Print pair. These are unbelievably soft and very cute too, I’d definitely recommend Next for nightwear. Also from Next is the #Elfie set, which I love. I love when Pyjama bottoms are cuffed at the bottom and I love that these are classic Christmas colours. Oh and I love a stripe, as everybody knows.

Topshop also do a fine old job of nightwear all year round, and this season they’ve brought out some comfies in appropriate colours and prints. The Green Stripe set and the Red Check set are both quite classic in shape and style, meaning you can still get away with them come January.

Finally, I had to include the Cashmere Socks from The White Company. I’m lusting after socks… does that mean i’m a real adult? I love nothing more than cosy toes and I just know these would be a dream for my feet. Please Santa?

party dressesLots of office parties have been and gone for the season, but there’s still the last of the pack and New Years Eve to come, so i’m not too late. It breaks my heart but I never get the opportunity to wear a party dress, nevertheless for today’s (late) post I’m showing you my picks of the party pieces for some last minute inspo or just to get heart eyed over. I am so good to you…

On the left we have the epitome of Christmas Party dresses, its a celebratory champagne shade, it’s heavily embellished and if there’s one time to wear it it’s right now. And it also comes in petite – I love you Topshop.

Next up is a pick at a premium price, but you could absolutely re wear it and it’s so damn gorgeous nobody will judge you. Infact they’ll probably praise you for having such fantastic taste. It’s from Reiss, it’s leather, it’s got gems. Need I say more?

Finally for the more conservative of us all, a black lacy number is a disco dancing classic and this is the most affordable of the bunch. It’s another Topshop number and my fave lady Lily Pebbles wore it to the Gleam Christmas Party and looked pretty superb. I love that lady.

Have you picked a party dress?

fashion christmas gift guide

You might have seen my Beauty Lovers Christmas Gift Guide last month, and if you’ve not then you should definitely have a look. This time around i’m listing my picks for a stylish sista, although I wouldn’t say i’m particularly fashionable I do love clothes and receiving a special something in the form of fashion.

Everyone loves a Christmas jumper and this year I’m hoping to find this slogan one from Topshop under the tree. I think it’s a bit more chic than the average farisle print and can be worn for shopping sprees as well as around the dinner table paired with a paper crown.

For a more practical and non day specific offering, this cashmere high neck offering from Reiss ticks every box. It’s pricey, but it would last a life time and keep your loved one cosy during the Christmas chill.

A girl can dream and lots of ladies would love a Burberry Heritage Check Cashmere Scarf to wrap up warm in this Christmas. If you’re feeling particularly nice you could even have it monogrammed with the recipients initials.

A good pair of leather ankle boots is something which every woman needs and this pair from Whistles are top of my letter to the north pole. Flat, but with enough of a heel to give you good posture and they’ll look fantastic with EVERYTHING.

On to bags and since Chloe brought out their Drew bag every high street shop have done a copy and the best I’ve seen is this one from Topshop. It’s available in a number of colours in store but I could only find the brown online. One to consider if you’re buying for a designer diva on a budget.

Finally, a watch is a perfect present for anyone and I love my Daniel Wellington Classic Sheffield Lady. It’s a classic shape with modern rose gold accents and the brand do a few different strap and metal offerings for every taste.

aw15 beauty

In case you haven’t got the point yet, I really am quite fond of Autumn. Burgundy, camel and copper are my favourite colours but unfortunately when I attempt to rock a plummy lip in the spring months people look at me like maybe I am mad. For beauty this season I’m coveting sparkly eyes and deep lip shades, and I’ve scoured the web for all of the things which would make my wish come true… a girl can dream.

My internet scouring consisted predominantly of me drooling all over the Charlotte Tilbury website with a quick divert to MAC and NARS. CT nails it with autumnal shades and her slap dash approach to eyeshadow application gets me excited. For the coming months i’m lusting after her Luxury Eyeshadow Quad in Dolce Vita, with a scribbling of the Colour Chameleon Shadow Stick for Green Eyes in Bronzed Garnet and a swish of the Eyes to Mesmerize Cream Shadow in Bette. For supermodel like sculpting i’m desperate for the Film Star Bronze and Glow in light/medium and to perk up my pout the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria which I believe is named after a certain Ms Beckham.

My sparkly eyes obsession stretches across to MAC Pigment in Copper Sparkle and for lips with more depth I want the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu. aw15 styleI’m not quite as adventurous when it comes to style and can usually be found in a pair of black skinny jeans and a cosy knit, but that absolutely does not stop me from wanting/needing more cosy knits in different shapes and shades. Zara do autumn brilliantly and an embarrassing amount of window shopping has left me wanting their Hand Made Coat, Colour Block Jumper and Cropped Turtleneck Sweater. H&M has become my new favourite shop and I’ve been eyeing up another turtleneck knit in the form of this lightweight red one, I’ve also spotted this dotty scarf which I think looks like it’s vintage and I loooove that. Finally with every season comes me wanting a slogan t-shirt from Whistles and this one is no different. I actually wanted the one which said ‘Beaute’ but it sold out and I was too slow and too poor (Student Life) and so I’ve now fallen in love with this one printed with a Parisian street name, how chic?! I also really really want this Burgundy Lizard Card Holder which is only £25 and next time I have £25 spare will definitely be coming home with me.

What do you want this Autumn? Are any of my picks on your shopping list?

With summer approaching, actual hot weather and my new rose gold watch (more on that tomorrow) I’m getting giddy over summer style and most importantly accessories. In the winter I tend to keep my look a bit more stripped back (oo-er) and opt for basic shapes and very little jewellery. I’m not one for big jewellery and so when I saw the new range from Thomas Sabo, my inner dainty jewellery lover was impressed. The collection contains a lot of rose gold toned metal and not much else; me likey.
The items pictured above are my covets of the collection, and I can’t wait to get spending on the site. Luckily for us the lovely people at
Silver Tree* are giving Northern Nancy readers an exclusive 20% off code for use accross the website, meaning you can take your pick of summer pieces from brands including Michael Kors, ChloBo, Pandora and more! If that’s not enough to fill your basket I don’t know what is…

So you can be like me and go for the rose gold beauties of Thomas Sabo’s latest launch, treat yourself to a Pandora charm or go big and splash out on a new watch. To redeem the discount simply enter BLG_CINAEDIO8AU8 at the checkout. *spends all money and ends up bankrupt*

SHOP MY PICKS HERE

Here’s the thing; I constantly browse online shops adding things to an imaginary shopping basket (I know I’m not alone on that one, who’s with me?) and to make it feel like anything but a form of lazy procrastination I put together these fancy little posts once in a while.

Recently i’ve been lusting after Topshop’s bits and so here’s a lengthy list of what i’ll be daydreaming about (hopefully wearing) this season.

This month marks the fifth anniversary of Topshop Makeup – the clothing brands ever successful delve into the beauty world. To mark the occasion, they’ve released a number of their best selling products in limited edition rose gold packaging and I, just like everyone else, absolutely love it. I’ve been desperate to get my hands on the glow pot for a while now and this prettly packaged version may have tipped me over the edge and make me bite the bullet. I do own most of Topshop’s lipstick line but i’m yet to try out a red so their lipstick in Rio Rio holds the top spot on my shopping list and is something i’m sure to pick up next time i’m in store.

Due to my completely mainly monochrome wardrobe, I thought i’d add in a few pops of summer with the green leaf print tunic which I really really need and the split back top in a pale lilac shade (very whistles). A few other tops caught my eye in the form of the raw edge top which has a lovely zip down the back, the herringbone top, a slogan tee and the white knitted vest which I can image would look lovely with ripped black MOM shorts (missed those of the list along with black dungarees because I have the memory of a goldfish/ forgot to browse the denim section).

Top half covered, on the bottom half i’m pretty uniform in that I always wear a trusty pair of black skinny jeans. To mix things up a little, I’m interested in tailored trousers and liked the look of the cigarette style as well as the notch back tapered pair which at £22 each are a bargain.

For jackets, because lets face it i’d freeze in the north if I only wore a t-shirt, I’d love to grow about five inches and pull off the duster jacket in this beautiful lilac/grey shade. I’ve also wanted a more tailored coat for a while so the slim pocket coat in navy can sit pretty on my list for when it starts to get colder.

Finally, to finish off my imaginary outfits, the lace up ballet shoes and the palm print scarf. These shoes are everywhere at the moment and I want/need a pair in my posession, and palm print just gets me every time…

cos wishlistThere’s something refreshing about COS. I’m not sure if its the way the stores are laid out, the quality of the pieces or the simplistic style but something is causing COS and I to have a moment.

Now the majority of the garments are more expensive than what i’d usually shell out for a top or a pair of socks but after somewhat of an epiphany I have decided that quality is so much better than quantity and that i’ll use more money on staple, timeless investment pieces rather than parting with £30-£40 on a trend frock.

Contrary to all of that, upon a recent lustful wander I picked up the red stripe tunic for only £19 – not even sale price – and I am made up with it. It looks lovely with everything I own and is a fantastic and welcome addition to my other 10 stripe tops. To go with it, I picked up the necklace for only £7 (again, full price). I love COS jewellery because it’s so dainty and classic and looks a lot more expensive than it is. I have a ring and a bracelet from previous shopping trips, both of which are in the same brushed copper effect metal with the grey/silver thread.

My style is evolving at the moment. I always struggle with summer dressing because 1. Its never really that sunny here and 2. I feel most comfortable in black skinny jeans and a long sleeved tee. This summer, however, I’m making an effort to let my style evolve and welcoming crisp cottons, white and potentially the odd pop of colour (no the wishlist isn’t all black, your eyes are in fact deceiving you). I love the straight, simple cuts of COS clothing and the fact that they are timeless and effortless. I’m dreaming of a perfectly streamlined minimalist wardrobe for the coming months. I might even get round to having a clear out.
